Rava Kuska

Rava Kuska
Rava or Sooji is good for kids. This kuska will make a wholesome meal for toddlers who are fussy eaters. Meenu liked it, so all fussy eaters will like this ;) The flavor of this dish is more of the biryani kinds due to the ginger garlic in it. It has got the goodness of ghee and the wholeness of coconut milk which is good for kids.

I have tried this based on the recipe by Revathi Shanmugam in this month's aval kitchen.

This is what you need:

1 cup roasted Rava
2 cups Coconut milk
1/4 cup Carrot and Beans finely chopped
1/4 cup Peas
2 Onions chopped finely
Few chopped Coriander leaves and Curry leaves
1 tbsp Turmeric powder
Salt as required
1 tbsp Ghee
1 tbsp Oil

To grind:

3 Green chillies
4 Garlic pods
1 inch Ginger
1 inch Cinnamon
1 Clove
1 Cardomon.

This is what you do:

  • Grind the ingredients under to grind to a coarse paste
  • Heat oil and ghee in a pan
  • Saute the onions till translucent
  • Add the vegetables, turmeric powder and little salt and saute them
  • Add the ground paste and saute till the raw smell disappears
  • Now add the curry leaves, coriander leaves and coconut milk
  • Once it comes to a boil, add the required salt
  • Add the roasted rava and mix well and simmer for 5 minutes closed
  • Serve it hot with raita
